Collective Spring Haul 2014

Sunday, 25 May 2014

So, according to the internet, May is still Spring! Therefore it is acceptable to still call this a "Spring Haul", even if I am a bit late!

Tops

This shirt I got in a lush little vintage store in Bristol called Sobey's!

It was £20.00

I absolutely adore the collar, it's such a beautiful detail and would brighten any outfit.

This spring I am loving oversized clothes as you will soon see!

These shirts are from Matalan for £14.00 each!

I like the loose boyfriend fit as sometimes, with the English weather, it's too hot for a jacket but too chilly for short sleeves! And the looseness means that you don't get hot and sticky!

Bottoms

Yay! I have finally found a pair of shorts which cover my bum and fit nicely!
I am so not keen on the hot pants style as I always feel self concious - even though I'm a small size I have quite big thighs so I just get uncomfortable.

These are "Mom" style, acid wash denim with deliberate distressing and are high waisted.
They were £19.99 also from New Look!

This gorgeous skirt was only £7.00 in the New Look sale!

It is an A-Line style and the material is quite thick so makes it so comfy to wear! Even though it's thick, I don't get too hot in it.

Shoes

 And now for the shoes!

These mint sandles are my favourite thing from this haul!
They are so comfy and were only £8.00 from Primark! Can you believe it?!

I really love the toe design and the fact that it's got a little bit of a chunky sole so you're not completely on the floor.

I also bought some new converse style trainers from Matalan for £12.00 as my previous ones had a mahoosive hole in!

Trainers are a good way to make dresses and skirts a bit more casual for everyday way and also to make your feet more durable!!

This haul was definitely not bought all at once! It's everything I have accumulated throughout this season!

NOTW 002 - Barry M Nail Art Pen

Wednesday, 21 May 2014

Wow I haven't done one of these posts since September!

So, I had an awful psychology exam yesterday and I needed to cheer myself up and what better way to do that then buying new nail varnishes?!

I got my hands on the new Barry M Nail Art Pen! And it's so much fun to use!  See for yourself below!

As some of you may know I have been trying to branch out from my obsession with Barry M nail varnishes so, after seeing it on Fleur De Force, I decided to give this Rimmel 60 second one a go! The colour is called 'Mind The Gap, Victoria'.

The main colour is a Barry M Gelly in the colour Kiwi. It is such a lush vibrant colour for the summertime and I love the feel that the Gelly's give!

A close up of the nail art.

Let me know if you like these sorts of posts in the comments below!

A Book Is Proof That Humans Can Do Magic

Saturday, 17 May 2014

Do you ever just finish a book and sit there for a while like
what the hell did this author just do to me?
Well, I do.

Maybe it's just me, but I get really attached to characters in books that are well written.

These are my top 5 books that have given me major feels!

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

This book...just this book... I read it in one sitting and stayed up until 2am to finish it. It is truly the best book of all time. You can read my review of it here!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Allegiant is the third and final book in the Divergent series. It is written in both Tris' and Tobias' perspectives. The best thing about this book is that the ending is no where near what I was expecting - my heart was ripped from my chest!

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

I think this was the best possible way to end this series. There are so many surprises and plot twists and egh! I just remember sitting on the beach in Mallorca after I finished it wondering what my feelings had just gone through!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

This is another final book in a trilogy and I love it because..in this book everything just falls in to place. Cassandra is a fantastic writer at hiding details of her fantasy world within and between her series, so it makes you want to read all of her books!

I realise that most of these are final books in a series but they are nearly always my favourite as the narrative always hits its most dramatic points! And with these books the authors really know how to make the reader have feels!

Which are your favourite books?

The Best Of Eurovision 2014

Sunday, 11 May 2014

Hi guys!

It's that time of year again where Europe comes together for one epic singing competition: Eurovision!
I always quite enjoy watching as you get a range of acts from strange to amazing. So, as I was watching it I decided to pick my favourite fashions and songs from the event!

The Netherlands

I just adore these two!! And I am in love with Ilse DeLange's textured dress, it's not too over the top as many of the other acts' were (talk about too many sequins!!) and compliments her figure beautifully!

Greece

A classic monochrome look for the men out there! I personally love the long, crisp white shirt paired with the clean cut of the leather jacket and I especially like the metal diamond accent at the collar of the shirt. Nikolaos Raptakis really knows his style!

Their song was also spectacular and was one of the only ones that actually made me dance in my seat!

Germany

When I first heard Germany's song I was a bit dubious as one of it's main instruments was an accordion and I hate accordions!! But then I saw Elaiza's gorgeous jacket. I love the contrast between the femininity of the floral and the rebelliousness of the leather shoulders, I just think they create the perfect juxtaposition.

Armenia

This song didn't immediately grab my attention, there wasn't anything exactly special about it but then...then...it exploded into this glorious kind of dubstep style song which makes you feel good to listen too!

I also quite liked his styling...again with the accented leather edging to his jacket and of course his gorgeous Armenian flag broach which actually looks quite exquisite.

Winner of the Act Who Most Reminded Me Of Bruno Mars: Denmark

Oh My God this song literally screams Bruno! I just loved it! And the dancer with the blonde hair was really getting into it which made it even more fun to watch!

Winner of Strangest Act Which I Still Loved:  France

All I really got out of this song was that it was about a moustache but it was fun and quirky just not quite right for the competition I suppose...

Winner of Favourite Act: United Kingdom

I am definitely not showing favouritism okay! I genuinely loved our song this year!! My other favourites include Iceland, The Netherlands, Armenia and Denmark.

I also loved Molly's dress, designed by Lucy Kenney. It's dead on tread with the gold metallic embellished by faux fur and feathers. I'm pretty sure she could also single handily bring back gladiator sandles!

Winner of My Favourite Act of All Time (so far!): Norway

This was Alexander Rybak's performance from 2009 and I just remember it so well from when I was younger!

Did you watch the contest? Who was your favourite?

P.S Sorry that this is such a long post I obviously love Eurovision too much!
