A Weekend in Santa Monica

Monday 18 July 2016

On our first weekend off from Camp training, the rest of the Brits and myself headed down the mountain to stay in Santa Monica for the fourth of July weekend. It was only for a few nights but I tried to do as much as possible in such a short space of time!

The first night we arrived fairly late so we went down to the pier to see it all lit up in the darkness. I was so surprised how busy it was even though it was late and there were still so many little kids around.

The next morning we did some shopping (I got some new Vans!) and had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory which was insanely good! I had a chicken Romano and then had to share a slice of vanilla cheesecake because I was so stuffed!

We then walked from the pier down to Venice to hang out on the beach. The vibe down there was incredible. We sat not too far from a drum circle, there was an old person's rollerskating class taking place next to the skatepark; everybody just seemed really chilled and were having a good time.
That evening we moved more towards the Marina to watched the fireworks and learned the hard way about LA traffic when we caught an Uber home.

The next day we got the bus back down to the Marina (because its so cheap!) so that we could explore all the canals and see the marina in the daytime. We then walked back up to Venice and just enjoyed the vibe there again for a while before we had to head back to the house and pack to go back up the mountain again!
