To New Adventures...

Saturday 10 December 2016

I have now been at university for a whole semester, three months to be exact. And with all the changes and having assignments again I just haven't really thought about blogging.

To say I was scared to come down to Falmouth is an understatement. After having a whole year of moving around constantly I didn't know how I'd feel being in one place and having to get back to the real world. I'd have to adapt myself to being around the same people all the time and having to do work again and having to do adult things like budgeting and laundry.

But somehow, I've made it work.

Oh My Goodness Ontario

Sunday 4 September 2016

You know what the best thing about travelling is?
When you see someone you met in one country in another!

Which is exactly what I did on my way home from San Fransisco; I took a de tour to Canada to see my friend Alexis whom I met in Byron Bay, Australia. I only had a week with her but she was incredible and sorted out this whole road trip around Ontario!

"Sunny" San Franciscooo

Thursday 1 September 2016

Before even heading to California I knew I had to try and get up to San Fransisco whilst I was there so, when camp was all over, myself and another girl got the Megabus for seven hours - twenty dollars each though - to North California.

Considering how hot and sunny the south was we were really not prepared for the north - it was freezing! The main thing keeping me warm was the sun burn I had sustained when I was in Malibu.

The Most Magical Day

Wednesday 24 August 2016

I hadn't been to a Disneyland since I was five years old and still scared of all the characters wearing the costume heads. So being in California for a whole summer meant I couldn't not go.
We literally got to the park for opening and managed to get on four or five rides without queues which was a blessing. It also meant being absolutely exhausted by the end of the day!

The City of Angels

Sunday 21 August 2016

When camp finished for the summer myself and some friends decided to have a week in LA to really get to see everything touristy. We stayed in Santa Monica which is a really nice hub to travel to and from and also has so many bars and restaurants and the pier to go to on an evening.

In that week we had though we literally did everything we possibly could!

Larking around Griffith

Sunday 14 August 2016

On our first weekend down the mountain and actually in LA itself we were so relieved that we could relax that we didn't actually do too much. After we visited Grand Central Market in Downtown LA we then headed over to Griffith Park where we road the carousal, hiked around the abandoned zoo and then went to the observatory for sunset.

Grand Central Market | Downtown LA

Tuesday 9 August 2016

I always love finding food markets and places off the beaten track to eat. So when Grand Central Market popped up in one of Ben Brown's vlogs and I saw how amazing it looked I had to go.

A Weekend in Santa Monica

Monday 18 July 2016

On our first weekend off from Camp training, the rest of the Brits and myself headed down the mountain to stay in Santa Monica for the fourth of July weekend. It was only for a few nights but I tried to do as much as possible in such a short space of time!

Why I Hate The Middle Seat.

Sunday 10 July 2016

I'm sure so many people share my aversion to the middle seat but there's just something about it that really gets me.
Recently, all of my flights have been taken alone as I was backpacking solo around the southern hemisphere and now on my way to California. And out of the 15 flights I've been on this year I could say that on 3 of them tops I had a window seat.

Women In The Film Industry

Sunday 3 July 2016

As a woman who is dreaming of being a part of one of the biggest and most difficult industries I feel like I need to address the gender bias that is still a major thing in the film industry. For me, this came to light when I came across an article about the difference in pay for the female and male actors in the film American Hustle, way back in 2014, and then it was highlighted again in Jack Howard's recent video with Jodie Foster.
I mean I already had a vague idea that there were more men in this industry but, after doing some research, I didn’t realise how major the difference actually was.

I'm Leaving Again! | Camp America

Monday 27 June 2016

I have been planning my gap year for well over two years and three things were always certain:
I wanted to go to Australia  ✔️
I didn't want to spend much time at home  ✔️
and I wanted to work with Camp America  ✔️

Now the time has come to head off to America! I will be spending the next two months in the glorious state of California working up on a Girls Scout Camp in the mountains near Big Bear!

10 Photos That Will Make You Want To Travel New Zealand

Thursday 16 June 2016

Hukka Falls
New Zealand with its awe-inspiring natural beauty and the vastly different landscapes of the North and South Islands, how can you not want to travel it?

I had the privilege of travelling this beautiful country in Janurary/February and these are my favourite  landscape photos from my time there. If at least one of them doesn't make you want to go there then I don't know what will!

Being A Solo Female Traveller At Eighteen

Sunday 5 June 2016

In January I hopped on a plane to the other side of the world for four months. All on my own.

When I was away I did meet a lot of people who were older than me that said "oh I couldn't do what you're doing when I was eighteen" and a lot of people saying "you're so brave" but for me I was always going to go travelling before I went to University so I couldn't always understand what they were talking about. And I also met plenty of people my own age - some in pairs, some solo - that had the same mindset so we clicked instantly, which is a pretty cool feeling.

So this post is my experience of being solo, a girl and only eighteen on the other side of the globe.

Five Must Have Apps For Travelling

Sunday 15 May 2016

Modern travelling means that pretty much all of us rely on technology and apps to get around and help us survive, whether it's checking in online or editing photos, these are the five apps I found I used the most whilst I was away and I'm sure will be using countless more times in the future!

Birthday at Elephant Nature Park | Chiang Mai

Sunday 24 April 2016

For my Nineteenth Birthday I visited the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand!

I had been so excited about going to this after I booked it back in January so I was practically bouncing by the time I actually got there! I booked this trip as my brother had been the previous year and told me how cool it was!
It was such an incredible experience.

Whistle Stop Tour Of Singapore

Friday 22 April 2016

So I had a two night stop over in Singapore before carrying on to Thailand and it is now on my list of places I must go back to!

I arrived late on the first night and it was absolutely chucking it down so I went out for dinner and then just went back to my hostel, another pod-style but this one you got your own TVs!

Indonesia My Love: Ubud & The Gilis

Monday 18 April 2016

Back to mainland Bali and to the rice fields of Ubud!
It felt so good to be back in a hostel and meeting new people everyday again! The town itself is bustling and is quite popular for tourists staying in the fancy resorts nearby but that's only really reflected in the one Starbucks (the only one I found in Indonesia!)

There's so much to do out of Ubud that I didn't get to do everything which only adds to the reasons I have to get back to Bali; from temples to waterfalls and the rice paddies. It was a totally chill place.

Indonesia My Love: Seminyak & Red Island

Saturday 2 April 2016

Indonesia was probably my favourite place whilst I've been travelling. Australia is the place I want to live but Bali and Indonesia as a whole are just beautiful. As always I will keep saying the people make the places but at the same time every person I've met are all in the same mindset and the same ideals as me so it's been incredible.

When I got to Bali I started off in Seminyak at a lush hostel called Capsule, with pod style beds! It's very social and close enough to everything, or a short taxi ride, and it was probably the best place for me to start my Indonesian adventure!

East Coast Wanderings: Magnetic Island & Cairns

Thursday 24 March 2016

I had two awesome days on Magnetic Island and it wasn't enough!

We arrived just after lunch and got picked up from the boat terminal by some guys from our Whitsundays tour (cos we can't drive and they can!) and they took us to probably the most picturesque hostel I stayed in (above).

East Coast Wanderings: Fraser Island & The Whitsundays

Thursday 17 March 2016

My first tour in Australia! Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and has a spectacular landscape from the vast sand blows to the thick forests in the centre of the island and the many lakes scattered across the island. I arrived to the island around eight in the evening to find my tour had really nice accommodation and food. There was a lush bar area where everyone on different tours could socialise and wage war on the ping pong table!

East Coast Wanderings: Byron Bay & Brisbane

Thursday 10 March 2016

Byron Bay was the first place I got to without knowing anyone, which made me nervous, but it turned out to be my favourite place in Australia. And I was only there for three days!

I arrived mid morning after a long over night bus and was pleasantly surprised to be met with a free shuttle bus to my hostel (a novelty believe me!). The hostel in Byron was honestly one of my favourites of the whole of travelling - it had a great vibe, great people and there was a surf school as part of the hostel!

East Coast Wanderings: Sydney

Friday 4 March 2016

Sydney! Such an iconic place and loved by thousands (millions?!) but still not my favourite...

A lot of the near week I had here I feel like I may have spent too much time catching up with friends from New Zealand rather than discovering the city with new people from my hostel - I barely spent any time there except to sleep!

East Coast Wanderings: Melbourne

Saturday 27 February 2016

I've made it to Australia! I've been wanting to come here for years and years and I cannot wait to see what the country has to offer! I absolutely loved the hostel I had for my week in Melbourne: United Backpackers - so modern and had a great bar! It was in such an amazing location with Flinders Street Station and Federation Square right on its door step.

The Rest of Kiwi Experience

Saturday 20 February 2016

As we left the beautiful glaciers of Franz Josef we visited some even more beautiful stops on the way to Wanaka in the form of Lake Matheson and Thunder Creek.

We were only in Wanaka for one night but spent the afternoon on the beach by the lake and then went to a cute independent cinema to see The Hateful Eight that evening. There were squashy arm chairs to watch the film in and there was an intermission to get freshly baked cookies and a drink! On the way out of Wanaka we stopped at Puzzling World and played around in the exhibitions for a bit.

Kiwi Adventures: Kateriteri & Westport & Franz Josef

Sunday 7 February 2016

I made it to the South Island, which looks like something out of Avatar!

Our first stop was Kateriteri in the Abel Tasman National Park which apparently is the only place in New Zealand with yellow sand beaches. The full day we had there was absolutely lush weather which meant our sail boat trip was perfect! There weren't actually that many people from Kiwi Experience on the boat but there were a lot from the Stray Bus which meant we got to mingle with some different people.

Kiwi Adventures: Rotorua & Taupo

Friday 29 January 2016

Back again! I'm getting these posts up everytime I have wifi so are not in real time by any stretch!
So Rotorua was the first place that I hopped off the bus and  stayed longer than everyone else, it was sad to say goodbye to my first bus but now that I've had a few different buses familiar faces are cropping up all over the place.

Kiwi Adventures: Hobbiton Set Tour

Wednesday 27 January 2016

A highlight of my New Zealand trip so far has to be the Hobbiton Set Tour because how can it not be? It's like how people come to England for Harry Potter sets but for Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit over here.
I have to admit I had only seen the first Hobbit movie before visiting the set so I couldn't always get references or wasn't as excited as maybe I would have been but it was a really cool experience either way!

Kiwi Adventures: Auckland & Hot Water Beach & Waitomo

Sunday 24 January 2016

I've finally got a bit of time (and wifi!) to do a little update as to what I've been doing for the last few days since arriving in New Zealand.

I landed in Auckland about mid evening as all my flights were delayed and, after I managed to find some dinner, I went back to my hostel to sleep and was a bit unnerved at how unsociable my röoom was! I was suddenly questioning what the hell I was doing.

and so the adventure begins...

Saturday 16 January 2016

Today is the day that I set off travelling, on my own, for One Hundred and Three Days.

I'm so excited and nervous and scared all at the same time that I can't work out what to do with myself. I'm packed and hopefully I've remembered all the important things because remembering everything would be a miracle!

I've probably just go to the airport at the moment - oh the joys of scheduling!

What I Got For Christmas! | 2015

Sunday 10 January 2016

This post is a little later than I had planned but I just wasn't home during decent daylight hours to take photos - oh the joy of working in retail! Quite a few things I got were for either Uni or travelling but a few things were a massive surprise and I just love it all!

Review | First BohoMoon Order!

Thursday 7 January 2016

I was so excited to receive this delivery as I found this store through Twitter and didn't quite know what to expect but I am so unbelievably happy with what came! I was initially going to just buy a couple of rings on their own but then I decided to take full advantage of their Christmas offer and treat myself to one of their Goodie Bags that they put together!
